All day long, people have been asking me “do you think Brett Favre will be starting in Green Bay”? Like my guess is better than anyone else’s. He may be the Packers starter — he may be elsewhere.
But here is an option a lot of people aren’t discussing: Green Bay trades Brett Favre to the Minnesota Vikings on September 9th. Why would I say that date? Well, it is the day the Packers-Vikings Monday Night season opener at Lambeau Field.
We know that the only teams that Favre will be playing for this season are the Packers or Vikings. Green Bay doesn’t want Favre in Minnesota because it could tip the NFC North scales in the Vikes favor. They really, really don’t want him there because they will turn around and see him wearing purple in that prime time opener.
So why wouldn’t they wait until after that game to deal him? Sure, they’ll meet up again in November in what would be a must-see contest … but that game will be in the Metrodome and it is late enough in the year that Green Bay feels like Favre is a bit more out of their system.
You think I’m stupid for mentioning this? Well, remember Billy Volek?
