All along we keep hearing from pundits that the Packers would never allow Brett Favre to end up playing for any of the team’s NFC North rivals. Packers GM Ted Thompson said the same thing explicitly on Monday.
But that might not be true.
The is reporting that if they get left with no other attractive options, the Packers would consider trading Favre to the Vikings or Bears, even though that would likely fix the biggest problem with two of the team’s top rivals.
Favre appears to know that he has the Packers held hostage (which was never more clear than when they offered him $20 million to not play). He hasn’t agreed to talk to Buccaneers or Jets officials, which makes it really hard for the Packers to work out a trade with the teams they want to deal with.
