After years of papering over problems in the secondary, the Vikings finally went out and did something about it.
Mike Doss and Tank Williams weren’t the answer, and every year Dwight Smith’s range diminished just a little more.
But by going out and getting Madieu Williams, Minnesota answered the need for a rangy free safety. Then just to be safe, the Vikings went out and drafted Tyrell Johnson, who is expected to eventually replace Darren Sharper as the team’s strong safety. Johnson was one of the fast-risers on draft day, and it’s a good thing the Vikings picked him, because he’s going to get to start a lot quicker than everyone expected.Continue Reading
