Adams steps in, steps up his game
Nose tackle Anthony Adams wiggled his right foot Wednesday before leaving the Walter Payton Center, indicating the injury that sidelined him from practice was no big deal.

"I'm good," Adams said. "On that turf [in Minnesota], it just felt funny. I knew it was going to be hurting the next day. But I didn't want to come out of the game."

The Bears need Adams at full strength for the final four games as starting nose tackle Dusty Dvoracek is lost for the season with a ruptured right biceps muscle.

"I have to bring energy, excitement," said Adams, who missed the final three games last season with a similar injury as Dvoracek's. "I'm going to do my job and do it well."

Adams, inactive for seven of the first 12 games this season, recorded a season-high six tackles against the Vikings. His long stint on the bench served as motivation.

"The most frustrating thing is just knowing ... you've done everything they've asked you to do," Adams said.

"I never questioned my ability. ... Everybody had nothing but positive things to say about me, keeping me motivated."

Good impression: Add Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio to those impressed by Bears rookie Matt Forte.

"I don't want to get carried away, but I see some Marcus Allen-type vision and balance with him," Del Rio said. "He's a taller guy. He runs with good pad level."

Forte appreciated the high praise.

"That's a great compliment," he said. "Some people said that when I was coming out of [Tulane]."

Injury update: Fullback Jason McKie, who missed Sunday's game with a quad injury, sat out Wednesday's practice. End Adewale Ogunleye (shoulder), linebacker Hunter Hillenmeyer (Achilles' tendon), and Adams (foot) did the same. Jaguars cornerback Rashean Mathis, whose four interceptions lead the team, is out for the season after spraining the MCL in his right knee.

Extra points: Jimmy Kennedy, who signed with the Bears at the end of last season, signed with the Vikings on Wednesday after Pat Williams and Kevin Williams were suspended. The Jaguars released Kennedy on Nov. 24.
