Vikings running back Adrian Peterson leads the NFL with 1,581 rushing yards, and Atlanta's Michael Turner is second with 1,421 yards. Their teams meet Sunday at the Metrodome. Here is Falcons coach Mike Smith ...
On whether Peterson and Turner are the league's best two running backs: "Well, I think the numbers speak for themselves. Adrian is a very talented running back who has had two great years -- his first years in this league. I can't say enough about what Michael Turner has meant to our Football team here in 2008. I think it will be a great game for the fans to watch and see the best two running backs in the National Football League on the field in the same game."
On running the ball against the Vikings' defense: "I know it is going to be a big challenge for our offense in regards to the ability of Minnesota to stop the run. They have a very formidable front seven. I was very fortunate to be involved with the Baltimore Ravens in 2000, and I'll tell you those guys do some suffocating things against the run. So it will be a big challenge for us."
