Dennis Green: Brett Favre-Minnesota Vikings would be better fit than Favre-Jets
Former Vikings head coach Dennis Green says Brett Favre would be a good fit in Minnesota -- a much better fit than he was with the New York Jets last season.

"Frankly, I was surprised the Jets (traded for) him," Green told The Sporting News. "The Vikings , (coach) Brad Childress and those guys are 100 percent West Coast offense. That's Favre. He would know their system better than any other player. He wouldn't need as much training camp and offseason stuff. It makes more sense."

Green was at the helm of the Vikings when the organization drafted Daunte Culpepper in 1999. The team has been searching for an answer at quarterback since Culpepper was injured and departed Minnesota. He was traded to Miami in March 2006 after suffering a major knee injury.

The public continues to await word from the Vikings or Favre regarding whether he will come out of retirement again and play for Minnesota.

Former Denver Broncos general manager Ted Sundquist said the Vikings should not sign Favre. Sundquist told The Sporting News he thinks the Vikings are the favorites to win the NFC North Division without Favre.

"If you bring in Brett, the microscope is on the Vikings from Day 1, all year, and not just in those two games they play against the Packers," Sundquist said. "It changes the whole dynamic around a pretty good Football team. I can understand that maybe Favre could make the difference in a playoff game. But first you have to make the playoffs, and it's a long journey to get there.

"Even with Favre on the Vikings , I still think the Giants and the Eagles remain the favorites in the NFC."
