FAVRE CONSIDERS ANOTHER RETURN

FAVRE CONSIDERS ANOTHER RETURN
It's happening again, Football fans. Wishy-washy Brett Favre is at it again, pondering yet another return from supposed retirement.

Favre, it was reported yesterday by ESPN, has plans to meet Vikings head coach Brad Childress at an undisclosed location later this week to discuss the possibility of returning to the field one year after Favre told the Jets he didn't want to play anymore.

Because the Jets , who still owned the rights to Favre after his retirement, granted Favre his outright release, he's free to sign with any team without the Jets receiving compensation.

Though the Jets didn't return a call last night, it is believed that when they granted him his release, Favre promised them that if he returned it would be only to play for the Vikings - not a competing AFC East team with a vacancy caused by major injury.

Favre, who had a torn biceps tendon when the Jets collapsed from an 8-3 start to a 9-7 finish, has had surgery to repair the injury. There have been reports that he's been working out in Mississippi to ready for a possible return.

When the Jets picked Mark Sanchez in the first round of last month's draft, they had their new face of the franchise, and thus opted to clear the books of Favre, who since that release has publicly stated he had no intention of playing again.

Favre wanted to play for the Vikings last season, but the Packers refused to let that happen by not giving him his release and only agreeing to trade him to an AFC team. (p. 61 Metro)
