Favre To Football: I Cant Quit You
May 7, 2009 (FITSNews For Now delivered by Newstex ) --

Brett Favre is meeting with Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress in Hattiesburg, Mississippi today to discuss the terms under which he might be the Minnesota Vikings starting quarterback in 2009.

Why Hattiesburg?

Duh. Favre is from Mississippi. Which, as youll recall, is slightly dumber than South Carolina.

Amazing but true.

Favre, youll remember, retired in 2007 after sixteen seasons as the Green Bay Packers starting quarterback. There he won seven division titles, a Super Bowl and three MVP awards.

He also set the NFLs career records for wins, touchdowns and passing yardage.

Then Favre un-retired, had a solid season as quarterback of the New York Jets last year, and retired again.

Favre looked spectacular during the first 11 games of 2008, leading the Jets to an 8-3 record and throwing six touchdowns in a single game against Arizona.

But the Jets lost four of their last five games, with Favre complaining of shoulder pain.

The aging gunslinger is reportedly bothered by a biceps injury, and ESPNs Rachel Nichols - who we continue to find curiously arousing - says that the Vikings may require Favre to undergo surgery to correct the injury before they sign him.

Thats according to a ?source close to the situation, a term we also find curiously arousing - particularly when said by Rachel Nichols.

Anyway, the Vikings were Favres team of choice after he left - or rather was forced out of Green Bay.

Unfortunately, the Packers refused to let him to play for their rivals in the NFC North.

Minnesota played Gus Frerotte and Tarvaris Jackson last year, and signed Sage Rosenfels from Houston in the offseason.

In other words, our ninety-six-year-old grandmother could probably compete for the starting job.

UPDATE - Looks like Nichols has plenty of previous Favre following experience.
