Minnesota Vikings Notes, Quotes 2009-05-08
--WR Percy Harvin, the Vikings' first-round pick in the NFL Draft last month, has resumed workouts after becoming ill during a layover at the Atlanta airport en route to Minneapolis for the team's recent three-day minicamp. Harvin was hospitalized for a few days because of severe dehydration before returning home to Florida.

--The Vikings agreed to terms with two offensive linemen after their rookie minicamp. Nick Urban, a guard and tackle from Division II Winona (Minn.) State, and center Juan Garcia from Washington were signed to contracts after being among the 30 players who attended on a tryout basis.

--WR Bernard Berrian likes the addition of the versatile WR Percy Harvin to the offense.

"I think he creates mismatches," Berrian said. "He can line up pretty much anywhere on the field, and I think that will enable our offense to be a lot better. He's not really a true receiver, but you can hand the ball off to him, you can throw swing routes or reverses, or you can line him up in the slot position or outside and throw the ball to him. He's got speed and he's probably the most explosive player in that (draft) class. He's definitely got some talent and he can do some things with the ball."

--LB Kenny Onatolu spent his first two seasons playing for Edmonton of the CFL before signing with the Vikings last winter. Onatolu played college football at Nebraska-Omaha and was asked about spending two years in hockey crazy Canada. "You turn on 'SportsCenter' there and it's hockey first for about 25 minutes, then you've got a little NFL and then you've got CFL," he said. "It's great to be back where football is king. It's funny now being on the smaller field. It just feels so small compared to the huge Canadian field."

QUOTE TO NOTE: "I try not to get too caught up in it because I don't want to get too overexcited, thinking that he's coming and then all of a sudden he doesn't. He would be a great addition to the team. He's a great player. He's done so much for the NFL by himself. He definitely would bring leadership to the team. He's been in the league for 17, 18 years and to have a player of his caliber come in, it speaks volumes for what he can do for this team." -- Wide receiver Bernard Berrian on the potential of the Vikings adding Brett Favre.
