--The NFL won't confirm it but sources say the Packers have filed tampering charges against the Vikings for improperly talking to quarterback Brett Favre. Favre is good friends with Vikings offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, who was a member of the Packers coaching staff from 2000 to 2005. Bevell spent his last three seasons in Green Bay as Favre's quarterbacks coach. The two have continued to talk but the Packers contend those conversations crossed over into tampering. The Packers and Vikings both aren't commenting. "These types of matters are handled by the league," a Vikings spokesman said in reading the statement. Favre, who retired in March, has expressed his desire to return to the NFL and has asked the Packers for his release.
--Receiver Bernard Berrian, whom the Vikings signed as a free agent this offseason, recently spent time in Orlando, Fla., training with quarterback Tarvaris Jackson at Tom Shaw Performance Enhancement in Orlando, Fla.
--Vikings coach Brad Childress was scheduled to fly in an F-18 Hornet aircraft in Duluth, Minn., on Wednesday. The pilot is a member of the Blue Angels.
--Childress said veteran center LeCharles Bentley, who was released by Cleveland this offseason, isn't on the Vikings radar.
--Childress had no update regarding left tackle Bryant McKinnie, saying the NFL has not given him any timetable on whether it will impose punishment stemming from a brawl outside a Miami nightclub in February. McKinnie could face a possible suspension as a multiple offender of the league's conduct policy. The Vikings will look at several players -- including Artis Hicks -- at left tackle in case McKinnie gets suspended. They did that during OTAs and minicamp.
